🙂 Hello, and Welcome to my site! 🙂
My name is Alex Gray, an aspiring IT professional with a focus in Networking, Info/Cyber Security, and IT Consulting!
I find that I often learn things on the fly, and after I don’t practice whatever it was for a while, I have to ‘re-learn’ how I did things.
I created this site because I wanted a place to document my learning experiences in the home lab and on the job.
I also hope this site will help other beginners.
I plan to write in mostly tutorial-style, but it’s really to help me learn and reinforce what I know.
Take a look at my blog page to see what I’ve been working on lately!
In May 2019, I graduated from Salisbury University’s Purdue School of Business majoring in Information Systems.
I have my CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications and I hope to earn more certs as often as possible. I’m also employed as a Network Technician at Inacom Information Systems, which is an IT Consulting firm.
I got my first taste of IT working as a contracted Cable Technician for Time Warner Cable in North Carolina. I loved independently troubleshooting and solving problems for customers.
After some time I decided I needed to finish the Associate’s degree in business that I started after graduating high school in 2011, so I moved back home to the eastern shore of Maryland.
I graduated from Wor-Wic Community College in December 2016, but took some time off after that to understand what field I really wanted to be in career-wise.
Reflecting on my positive experience as a Cable Technician, I started to research IT careers and found out about the field known as ‘Networking’.
As soon as I learned the basics of what networking is, I was hooked. I signed up for classes at Salisbury University in January of 2018 and the rest is history in the making!
Outside of my passion for IT I enjoy watching cartoons with my awesome fiancée, dabbling in music production, photography, bodyboarding and surfing, and relaxing at the beach or swimming in the ocean.
Thanks for reading, and may you have an awesome day!
