🙂 Hello, and Welcome to the site! 🙂

It’s me, in Russia!

My name is Alex Gray, Network Engineer and enthusiast!

I want to start off by telling you why I got into this field, and why I created this website.

I used to work in the service industry…Think retail, kitchen worker, bus boy, package handler at a major delivery company–things like that.

Needless to say it wasn’t fun and I was miserable. I had an associates degree, but it never got me paid much more than minimum wage. Frankly, I wasn’t worth much more than minimum wage.

Then I met my wife. She put a fire under my butt and I wanted to be able to provide for us, for my family. I decided it was time to go back to school and finish that degree I started.

I had to pick a field and I absolutely fell in love with networking. I finished the last leg of my Bachelor’s degree in 1.5 years by taking more credits than average, with summer and winter classes. I picked up three CompTIA Certifications along the way.

While going through an intense training academy at Cisco, I won an award for being a star student, and what they said about me was that I, “oozed enthusiasm for networking”. That couldn’t be more true. I don’t know if there’s anyone who loves networking more than me.

As you may have picked up from the paragraph above, I no longer work in food or retail service. I make enough money to provide for my family, and I have a job that I love waking up to.

Ask me in the beginning if I ever thought this was possible, and I might have told you, “maybe”.

Well I will tell you now it is possible, with hard work and dedication.

It wasn’t an easy road to get here, but the time and money I spent investing in myself and in my knowledge paid off.

I want to share my knowledge with other dedicated students of the industry so we can all succeed together.

My most rapid success has came from studying, and applying the concepts I study through lab exercises.

By studying the material and resources I provide on this website, and completing the lab challenges I create–you will become great at networking. We can become masters together.
